New Class at the MAC!
Dear Friends,
I’m writing to you today to share some great news! Middletown Arts Center has asked me to teach a class on Thursday mornings from 10:00am-12:00 noon starting December 1st. I can only say that I’m very excited about this opportunity to share all that has been given to me by my former teachers and also my current mentors.
Here’s the class description and what I hope to accomplish in my teaching.
Class description:
Learn the essential skills and techniques for creating a great painting. Learn the importance of controlling the values, using color and color relationships to express yourself, how photographs lie and how Nature provides the right answers. Lessons learned from Linda’s former teacher, Larry Doud, and her current mentor, Kevin Macpherson, will be taught through either exercises or on subjects the student wants to paint. All level of painters are welcome—bring your creative and curious art spirit to class!
(A side note on the class description. My fortune of studying with Kevin and Kevin so freely giving advice and help especially over the last year and half has really focused me on the techniques and skills needed, finding answers in Nature. I would love to explore this with my students (and fellow artists) and provide insights by using examples of Past Masters work and exercises that help to create an “AH HA” moment in your painting. This doesn’t mean you can’t paint what you want, just that we’ll begin to discuss things differently and hopefully begin to see things differently. I want this to be a true discussion between artists. An opportunity for discovery free from judging.)
