Latest Painting and Other Cool Stuff!

So, before I get into discussing the latest painting, I wanted to post about some upcoming gigs. First, I’ll be appearing on Writers & Authors On Fire and Business Mic. Links will be posted here when they are available.

Coming up on Art Chats/All Things Creative will be our first sculptor guest. Bridgette Mongeon breathes life into clay, but she loves encouraging and supporting individuals in their creativity and inspiring through her books, lectures, and her mentorship programs. She has been sculpting for over thirty years. She recently completed a tribute sculpture piece for the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland.  We discuss that piece and more on March 8th.

Now a little on the latest painting–Claude Monet’s Lily Pond.  If you follow me on Facebook then you saw the work in progress pictures. I thought I would put them all in a blog here so you can see the transition to the finished product.

This is the closest I have to my value plan/study as I can post.  As you can see I was anxious to jump into color!

Added in the lily pads and some shadows into the weeping willow. Claude’s Japanese Bridge is a bit to the left and out of the painting, but just thought I’d mention that.

The process continues. Notice how the red bush pushed the mountain in the distance back and also pushed the willow tree back as well. The red bush was not going to stay that red…as you will see in the final painting. Here’s the final painting.  The original has been spoken for, but stay tuned about an upcoming raffle of a signed canvas print.

Next painting will either be of La Rogue Gegeac or of a woman who photo I captured in Paris. She has some sass and it’s been calling my name!

Thanks for sharing the journey with me.
