Want to produce some video of you painting? How about creating an instruction video? This blog and Art Chat TV Quick Clip will show you my setup and discuss what equipment you'll need. 

With advances in technology, you can create a relatively inexpensive setup that will allow you the opportunity to produce quick videos or, if you have editing software, even longer videos.  This blog doesn't include all the software needed, but I'll mention them after you view the ACTV Quick Clip.

As you can hear, I used my phone, so the video sound was not as crisp and clear as when I used the webcam's built-in microphones or my headphones. This is why I decided to go the webcam route. If you mount the phone instead of holding it, hopefully, there won't be as much scratchy background noise. 

Here's the equipment you'll need to purchase:  

1 or 2 webcams--depending on how big your studio is and what you plan to do. I use NexiGo webcams. Other artists like Logitech. 

1 or 2 booms--a boom for each camera is ideal. I really like the Len Tok boom because it is very sturdy. That means less bouncing if you have to readjust on the fly. 

USB Port Hub. Whether you are using a laptop (which usually only has two USB ports) or a desktop, you will need additional USB ports to plug in all your new equipment. Vemont is the hub I use, and it has seven additional ports. 

USB Male to Female Extension Cords These come in various lengths. I have three six-foot lengths. At some point, I will probably get a third webcam to mount over my palette. Then, I will have to switch cameras to show various shots. Ainope is the brand I use. 

Software that you should invest in--editing software. Everyone makes mistakes--even the pros. You can always save the bloopers for a laugh by creating your own blooper reels.  I use MoviAVI software. I find it easy to use, and if there is one downside, they always upgrade it. However, you don't have to upgrade every time. I'm actually on a very old version, and it fits my needs.

I use a free Canva account to create my logos. They have quick little video templates like the one I created for ACTV Quick Clips.  I also used it to create the Linda Fisler Fine Art logo and the Art Chat TV logo, keeping my brand consistent throughout all I do.
